CSL or Collegiate Star League is one of the largest collegiate esports leagues in the country. Players from across the nation can register with teams from their schools and compete against other schools in a variety of games from League of Legends to Super Smash Bros.
I worked with CSL to redesign their homepage and redesign the player registration flow in preparation for the upcoming season.
CSL wanted to increase engagement and build a sense of community among college esports players so the homepage redesign helped to give people a sense of what they could do on the site - even if they weren’t a player. We added a featured stream section and a list of upcoming matches so fans could stay on top of all the latest in college e-sports and follow their schools team.
We wanted to make CSL a place that was more than a scheduling platform for team leaders. We focused much of our attention on the homepage to create and engaging experience for fans and casual gamers, but we also needed to revise the registration flow so that fans could access the content they were looking for and players could access their team information quickly.
The redesign cut drop-off rates in the sign-up flow by 50%.
